Nothing so entretaining since SpiceDAO's magistral copyright lesson. Neverteless, Seth Green's "monkey business" has very interesting copyright questions about originality and derivative works. Also, BAYC apes are kinda similar, being created in iterative ways. So, one might wonder what happens if Seth Green uses another BAYC NFT close enough to his lost Fred. Does it amount to "substantial similarity"? Is it holding this token a possible lawsuit and the first case of "NFT IP trolls"?
Of course, Seth is set on Fred: “[I] have spent the last several months developing and exploiting the IP to make it into the star of this show,” Green said in an interview on May 21, “Then, days before — his name is Fred by the way — days before he’s set to make his world debut, he’s literally kidnapped.”
